Shaving has evolved along side the history of civilization, from the emergence of war which a clean shave is generally a standard, and in contrast there is the full beard of rebellion.  A classic DE razor can last a life time; they are made with quality and precision. The blades cost pennies, usually under 10 cents per blade, and can be used for 4-6 shaves.  The blades for cartridge razors are more expensive, usually over ten dollars for a pack of three. There is also less waste when using a DE safety razor, which is better for the environment. The only waste is some natural lather down the drain and a double edge razor which is easily recyclable. The cartridge razors use more plastics that do not last as long an eventual ends up in a land fill or in the ocean, plastic is an everlasting material that’s has polluted our oceans for sometime now, so much so that traces of it can be found in fish.
